Advanced GI MIS/Bariatric Surgery Fellowship

Our fellowship offers you robust operative surgical training for bariatric patients. We specialize in minimally invasive bariatric surgery—like laparoscopic gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy—while you’ll also gain valuable experience performing solid organ and anti-reflux, foregut and hernia surgery. After our year together, you’ll be prepared to practice or teach minimally invasive bariatric surgery.

How to apply

Our fellows are part of the team providing comprehensive multi-disciplinary care to bariatric patients. You'll be involved in patients’ pre- and post-operative care and teach surgery residents in our flagship medical center and state-of-the-art simulation lab. We pair your robust surgical experience with autonomy and research activities that improve patient care. We’re proud to hold accreditation from the MIS Fellowship Council.

Surgical experience

You’ll operate 4-5 days weekly, perfecting advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures that lead patients to live healthier lives. Your experience focuses on laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy but offers advanced surgical training in laparoscopic antireflux operations, minimally invasive paraesophageal hernias, revision foregut surgery, solid organ surgery and hernia surgery, including the use of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System.
