Absence policy

For all foreseen absences, you must request the days off through Madison - send to Gwen or Megan. They will then send the approved absence to the Program Coordinator's at Gundersen. This Absence Request form can also be found on OASIS. Please note the following rules:

  • Each student can have up to 5 days off in any one block
  • But no more than three days in a row
  • You must submit your request at least six weeks in advance
  • You will be required to complete make-up work

Not feeling well

Unforeseen absences due to illness during rotation - students need to notify the Program Coordinators in the Medical Education Office. The Medical Education Office will then notify the department.

  • Contact day or night - send an email to [email protected]
  • You must notify us if you will not be coming in the following day - we assume you will be here unless otherwise told

Student pager listing

Looking for the Medical Student Pager listing to page a colleague?

Gladiator>Internal Sites>Medical Education>Medical Students>Rotating Pager List

This is where you will find all Medical Students listed, as these pager numbers are rotating throughout the year. You will NOT find them in the Employee Search.

In case of an accidental needle stick, please page the exposure nurse at pager 3799.

If after hours, please report directly to the Emergency Room for assistance.

Our Emergency Department and the exposure nurse know that it is very important that the “source patient” be tested within two hours (patient allowing) and they know that it is very important to have a short turn-around for this testing. The student should be tested within 24-48 hours.

Your badge will allow you to take out 4 garments at a time (2 pairs of scrubs - regardless of color). The Student Pyxis Machine is located on 2nd Floor Heritage, just around the corner from E Elevators. This is where you will take out and return scrubs.

Do not leave your scrubs in the locker room! This will cause you to lower your garment allowance.
