We offer surgical obstetrics training to a new resident or a Family Medicine physician practicing inside or outside Gundersen. We’re proud to be the only organization in Wisconsin that does.
Our Family Medicine OB Fellowship prepares physicians to deliver full-spectrum obstetric care where it’s needed most. During our year together, you’ll expand your practice to manage low and high-risk pregnancies and perform operative vaginal and cesarean section births. You’ll learn from our skilled clinicians including obstetricians, Family Medicine physicians, midwives and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists in our world-class teaching hospital as well as a rural clinic to understand the unique needs of practicing in under-resourced communities. We believe in learning from each other, and we’ll look to you to help teach our Family Medicine residents, medical students and regional obstetric providers.
Patient care competence
Our fellowship trains physicians to triage obstetric complaints, manage labor; and handle antepartum, labor and postpartum complications, as well as manage high-risk pregnancies, first-trimester bleeding and miscarriage.
Procedural competence
You’ll finish our fellowship prepared to handle vaginal deliveries, including vaginal deliveries after cesarean section, vacuum-assisted vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, dilation and curettages, and repair of perineal and vaginal lacerations.

We offer paid medical premiums, funds for educational expenses, a meal stipend and more benefits to support you during your fellowship.
