Pumpkin pie spice has a warming, spicy and sweet flavor that pairs perfectly with the fall season.
Pumpkin pie spice can make ordinary meals taste like fall. Add pumpkin pie spice to oatmeal, smoothies, yogurt, pancakes, bread, homemade granola bars and more. An added benefit is that this blend can be used to make recipes taste sweeter without adding additional sugar because of the "sweet" spices that it contains. To make your own pumpkin pie spice at home, combine:
- 3 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. ground allspice
Feel free to adjust the spices to your liking and test out your blend with our pumpkin pie spice recipes!
You can use an equivalent amount of pumpkin pie spice whenever a recipe calls for a combination of most or all of these spices. For example, if a recipe calls for 1 tsp cinnamon and ¼ tsp nutmeg, you could use 1 ¼ tsp of pumpkin pie spice.
