Heart Valve Treatment
A healthy heart depends on four functional valves. Defects, aging and several other conditions can thicken or weaken them. Left untreated, the heart can fail. Our heart experts can help with medication and lifestyle changes. When surgery is the best option, Gundersen has a dedicated heart valve team you’ll love.
Valve repair
We offer minimally invasive procedures to open clogged valves and repair the tissue at the base of the mitral valve. If one of your valves doesn't close, you may be a candidate for minimally invasive transcatheter mitral valve repair. The results are immediate. We’ll help determine if TMVR is the right fit for you.
Valve replacement
We can replace heart valves damaged by defect, infection, scarring or aging. If calcium deposits caused the valve to narrow, we may be able to replace it using a less invasive catheter-based procedure called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). This type of surgery means less pain, lower risk for complications and a faster recovery than open-heart surgery.
