Evidence shows that cancer treatment is more effective with an integrative approach. That’s why cancer care at Gundersen has two layers. Personalized for you

Cancer treatments

Your care team will work with you to develop a personalized cancer treatment plan. Along with the type and stage of your cancer, they'll consider things like your age, your overall health and your personal preferences. Some people may receive just one type of treatment. Others may require a combination of treatments.

Cancer-related services

For times when you need more than the best medicine, we've created our COMPASS program. COMPASS is a network of support staff, therapies and resources. It's one of the many integrative ways that we make sure we're caring for all of you, not just treating your cancer.

Support services

While receiving cancer treatment, you’ll have access to many services to support you every step of the way. Services may include things like help managing side effects of treatment and support groups.

Survivorship resources

Survivorship resources also are available to help you, your family and friends as you navigate life after a cancer diagnosis. These may include things such as nutrition support or financial assistance.

Infusion therapy (chemotherapy)

Infusion therapy, sometimes called chemotherapy when treating cancer, is used when medications or fluids can't be taken by mouth. Instead, they are delivered directly into your body through a vein.

Cancer genetic counseling

Many cancers are not inherited, but some can be passed down in families. In these cases, genetic testing may be helpful to consider ways to lessen your risk. This is especially true if you have relatives with cancer.

Clinical trials

Clinical trials are studies that help doctors discover the effectiveness of new treatments. They often come with many benefits and some risks. Your doctor can help you decide if a clinical trial is right for you.
