Program Director

Lori J. Rosenstein, MD

Dr. Rosenstein grew up in Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for undergraduate and medical school. While in medical school, she completed several rotations at Gundersen. She finished her training at the University of Iowa and practiced there for five years as a faculty member and associate program director before coming to Gundersen Health System to lead the fellowship program. Clinically, she cares for patients with both malignant and benign hematologic conditions. 

When not at work, Dr. Rosenstein likes to spend time with her family, which includes her husband, Adam, and children, Abby and Sam. She loves the opportunities the Coulee Region offers for outdoor adventures, such as hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, ice-cave exploring and running in the marsh.

Associate Program Director

David E. Marinier, MD

Dr. Marinier grew up outside of Chicago in Elmhurst, Ill. He received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2004 and completed his hematology/oncology fellowship training at Loyola University Medical Center in 2013. 

Dr. Marinier has been practicing at Gundersen Health System since 2013. He has been the associate program director for the Hematology & Oncology Fellowship since 2014, with clinical interests in genitourinary malignancies, immunotherapy and lung cancer. 

He enjoys distance running and is an avid sports fan. Outside of medicine, he and his wife, Tiffany, spend most of their time raising four active children and enjoying family bike rides and hikes around the area.

Hematology & Medical Oncology Department Chair

Kurt Oettel, MD

Dr. Oettel is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, Wis. He completed internal medicine training at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., and a fellowship in oncology at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center in Madison. He has been practicing at Gundersen Health System since September 2001. Dr. Oettel is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. His professional practice interests are lung cancer and head and neck cancer. 

Dr. Oettel is currently the director of Gundersen's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and sits on Gundersen's Board of Medical Governors. He is involved in advocacy work through the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG). He serves and chairs several committees through these organizations, with a special interest in government relations. He is also the principal investigator for the National Cancer Institute's NCORP program in Wisconsin, which oversees and supports cancer clinical trials in the state. 

When not at work, Dr. Oettel enjoys family time with his wife and three daughters. He is an avid cyclist and runner and also likes skiing and stand-up paddle boarding.
