Medical records information

Gundersen Health System respects each patient's right to the confidentiality and privacy of their healthcare information. We will make every attempt to protect the privacy of patient information so that such information is not heard, read, or otherwise shared with others for any reason other than to promote the best healthcare outcomes for our patients.

In order to disclose protected health information, we require signed authorization from the patient or legal guardian. The healthcare record is the property of Gundersen and is maintained for the use of the hospital, clinic, medical staff and for the benefit of the patient. You may request copies of your health information at any time, with reasonable notice and payment of copying costs.

Patient & family services

Our Patient and Family Services staff works with patients and acts as an advocate as a member of the healthcare team. The staff assists patients and family in:

  • Discharge planning
  • Advance directives
  • Access to a wide range of available resources
  • Offer consultation in emotional, social, financial, family and health concerns

Volunteer opportunities

  • Assisting with department duties
  • Escorting patients around the facility
  • Providing support at community events

Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years old or older, be discrete and dependable, have a positive and welcoming attitude and provide at least four hours of volunteering per week.

Applicants must also be able to pass a background check, health assessment and volunteer training program.
