Personal onion gratins recipe
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
2 large white or yellow onions cut into two thick rounds each
1 ½ Tbsp. olive oil
¼ tsp. pepper
⅛ tsp. salt
¼ cup plus 2 Tbsp. breadcrumbs
⅓ cup parmesan cheese
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place onion rounds onto a baking sheet.
Combine 1 tbsp oil, ⅛ tsp pepper and salt in a small bowl. Brush both sides of the onions with mixture and put in the oven. Bake for about 7 minutes, turn onions and then bake for another 7 minutes.
Combine the bread crumbs, cheese and remaining oil and pepper in a bowl.
Turn the onions again and top each onion with the bread crumb mixture. Reduce the oven temperature to 400 degrees F. and bake for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
