Let’s Talk Puberty, Girls!

Our Gundersen pediatric nurse practitioners and nurse midwives will teach girls about puberty and the changes in their bodies in a safe and supported environment. The class is intended for girls, ages 8–13, and one support person. 

In this class, participants will:

• Review physical, emotional​ and social changes in the “tween” years — the time between childhood and the teenage years
• Normalize common changes during this time
• Gain confidence and experience less anxiety over what’s happening to their body
• Answer questions in a simple and medically accurate way
• Address the challenging pressures and stressors at this age
• Promote healthy nutrition and activity, promoting life-long health
• Make a period kit with supplies to prepare for menstruation
• Kick-start a discussion between caregivers and their “tween”
