Gundersen Sparta Clinic welcomes nurse practitioner to their staff

Gundersen Sparta Clinic welcomes nurse practitioner to their staff
Monday, October 31, 2016

Gundersen Sparta Clinic is happy to have Kris Roou, NP, on its team of skilled and caring providers. And for Roou, Sparta Clinic is a great place to be. Roou treats patients of all ages at Gundersen Sparta Clinic. She provides annual exams, well child visits and acute care for both adult and pediatric patients.

Originally from Hillsboro, Roou is positively thrilled to continue her nurse practitioner career at Gundersen Sparta Clinic. She has worked for Gundersen in the past, at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics in Whitehall. She's cared for patients as a nurse practitioner for about seven years.

"Sparta is close to my home in Black River Falls and I'm excited to come back to work at Gundersen," she says. "The camaraderie of the staff at Sparta really attracted me."

Helping heal others is a passion for her, something she's been attuned to her whole life.

"As a young person I enjoyed sports and nutrition and still do to this day," says Roou, who is a sports fan, especially volleyball. "But I didn't just want to be two dimensional—I needed to be involved in caring for the whole patient, not just diet and exercise."

She says that a career in nursing, and as a nurse practitioner, has made her a different person than who she otherwise might have become.

"Being a nurse has exposed me to so many different people and situations, says Roou. "The old adage, 'truth is stranger than fiction,' is so true. "Like many providers, I often think of past patients or situations and feel it has made my life richer."

To schedule an appointment with Roou, call Gundersen Sparta Clinic at (608) 269-6731.
