Allison Burbach, OD, is now caring for the vision needs of patients at Gundersen Eye Clinic Hillsboro. Along with primary vision care, eye disease management, contact lens fitting and pediatric optometry, Dr. Burbach will provide dry-eye management and evaluation.

She takes over for retired optometrist Jeffrey Clark, OD, who along with his father provided vision services for the community for more than 50 years.

A native of Dyersville, Iowa, Dr. Burbach was attracted to Gundersen by the collaborative effort between all doctors to provide the best possible patient care and experience. She rotated here as part of her optometry training.

"Dyersville has about 4,400 people and I loved growing up in a small town. Everyone knows everyone and it was always safe. Hillsboro—while a little smaller—gives me the same vibe. I will get the opportunity to really know my patients in Hillsboro because it is such a small and tightknit community.

One of her other favorite parts about eye care is working with the patient to solve a problem. If she cannot find the solution, she will reach out to colleagues who can.

"I always knew I wanted to do something in the medical field," she says. "My dad is a chiropractor and I loved the one-on-one, personal interactions he had with his patients. I chose optometry because I really get to build a rapport with patients and, as a person who has worn glasses since I was 8, I understand the importance of eye health and vision."

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Burbach, call the Gundersen Eye Clinic Hillsboro at (608) 489-2451.
