Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics is excited to welcome family nurse practitioner Matt Drakas to its growing family medicine team. Matt is accepting new patients and will care for all ages at Gundersen Boscobel and Muscoda Clinics. Visits with Matt include sports and routine wellness exams, chronic disease management, acute needs (sick visits), health maintenance and preventative care.
Matt first experienced the Gundersen Boscobel care team during a clinical rotation.
“I had the privilege of working across all three primary care clinics during my clinical rotation where I saw first-hand the impact of the phenomenal GBAHC family medicine team,” says Drakas. “The partnerships across the health system and shared purpose are what drew me back to a career at Gundersen Boscobel.”
Originally from Menasha, Wis., Matt earned his undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before earning his Master of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Gundersen Boscobel’s primary care team, Matt worked as an intensive care nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., and most recently cared for post-anesthesia patients recovering from a wide variety of operations in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wis.
“I strive to be compassionate and always in tune with the latest advancements,” Drakas says. “My passion for preventative care and serving rural communities align with Gundersen’s commitment to rural health, and I look forward to making a difference here.”
When not seeing patients, Matt enjoys watching and talking sports, getting outside and being active and traveling.
