Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Wilkinson attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., for his undergraduate degree and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency training in family medicine at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Ill. He looks forward to meeting new families and caring for the great people who call southwest Wisconsin home.

“I have always found the people of the Midwest to be friendly and genuine,” he says.

For Dr. Wilkinson, Gundersen Boscobel Clinic is a great fit.

“I was attracted to Gundersen Boscobel for its commitment to providing excellent patient care in a compassionate manner. Patients feel welcome and respected, which is equally as important as restoring their good physical health,” he shares. “During my interview, those I met were, without exception, caring people who simply want to do what’s right for patients and their families.”

Dr. Wilkinson has a special interest in geriatric medicine.

“I have a deep respect for the elderly, as they are the ones who, in many cases, suffered through adversity to pave the way and create the society we enjoy today,” he says. “They are fun to talk with and listen to their stories about the past.”

Dr. Wilkinson has been married for 36 years and has three grown children, one of whom lives close by in Platteville. Another son is an emergency medicine resident at the University of Iowa. His daughter lives in Maine. He is also a proud grandfather.

When not busy caring for patients, Dr. Wilkinson enjoys recumbent cycling, photography, working on home improvement projects and spending time with his family.

“I look forward to being a part of a team with the singular goal of improving the health of the residents of Boscobel and surrounding communities,” Dr. Wilkinson concluded. “Practicing medicine has been a perfect way to combine my interests into a career that, even after nearly 30 years, continues to give me great satisfaction.”

He adds, “I’ve always had a special interest in rural medicine and being able to bring quality medical care to smaller communities for people who might otherwise have to travel to receive the care that they need.”
