A native of Columbus, Neb., Dr. Hutcheson provides comprehensive eye care services including eye exams and ocular disease management. "I am excited to have the opportunity to provide care for patients in the Adams-Friendship area. The community is like the area I grew up in, and the clinic reminds me of medical facilities I worked in while caring for soldiers in the Army," comments Dr. Hutcheson.

Dr. Hutcheson received his Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry, Bloomington, Ind. He later earned his Master of Business Administration from University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Dr. Hutcheson performed his residency in Ocular Disease at University of Alabama, Birmingham School of Optometry, Birmingham, Ala., and for the past 19 years has been an active duty optometrist in the United States Army.

"Often I was the only eye care provider at my Army post, so the soldiers depended on me to take care of them any time of the day they needed me, and I did my absolute best to take care of them," explains Dr. Hutcheson. "I plan to do the same thing for my patients and their families at the Friendship Clinic."

Dr. Hutcheson says that a friend of his since optometry school, Phil Holzer, OD, who is an optometrist at the Gundersen Eye Clinic in Prairie du Chien encouraged him to apply for this job. "Over the past 10 years, whenever a job opening was posted for a Gundersen eye clinic, Phil would call me. When he told me about the opportunity to build a new optometric practice in Friendship, I applied immediately," Dr. Hutcheson says.

When not working, Dr. Hutcheson enjoys spending time with his high school sweetheart and wife, Julie, and their three boys. He also likes to golf, lift weights, downhill ski and cross-country ski. He says he's anxious to take up other outdoor activities too. Dr. Hutcheson and his wife have purchased a condominium in Adams County.
