About Us

Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics began in 1952 with a grass-roots effort by local citizens dedicated to establishing healthcare services locally. That dedication continues to drive the decisions we make today.

With clinic locations in Boscobel, Fennimore and Muscoda, we make quality care convenient to access in multiple communities.

Our care is driven by our commitment to our Strategic Plan:

History

Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics is a partnership of two health systems dedicated to quality care to residents of Grant, Crawford and Richland Counties. In 2013, Boscobel Area Health Care joined forces with Gundersen Health System, a regional system based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and nationally known for its excellence.

Boscobel's healthcare tradition began in 1952 when four local doctors led the community to raise funds and open a new hospital. The late Jack Curry, one of the organizers of the effort, recalled, "The term 'strategic plan' didn't exist then. There weren't mission statements. There was simply a need--a need to provide the area with good medical care."

Technology has changed healthcare dramatically, offering improved procedures and an expanded menu of services. While Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics continues to expand and change, the community involvement and connection to our roots remains strong and stable. Community members and Gundersen Health System experts share governance to ensure quality healthcare services and accessible care close to home.
