Participating in a random act of kindness can improve the quality of life for others and yourself. In fact, recent research suggests that random acts of kindness can even have a positive impact on your health, by decreasing stress levels and increasing inner peace and happiness. No random act of kindness is too big or too small and they don't have to cost money.

  • Write a nice note to a family member or coworker, even if it's just to say "Have a good day."
  • Give someone a hug.
  • Shovel a neighbor's driveway or rake a neighbor's yard.
  • Compliment a stranger.
  • Call an old friend or family member just to say "Hi."
  • Donate blood.
  • Volunteer at a hospital or nursing home by playing the piano or assisting with arts and crafts events or bingo.
  • Share fresh produce with a neighbor.
  • Share an inspirational quote with someone who needs cheering up.
