What once housed ice for the Gund Brewery is now Gundersen's ICE House, a world-class education and simulation center. Inside these walls, providers hone their skills on life-like simulators while the next generation of care professionals visit to learn and grow.
The Education Center offers a modern space that can seat 175 for meetings, conferences and other gatherings. Audio and video technology are available.
The Cleary Kumm Simulation and Training Lab includes a Mock Operating Room and a Skills Lab with four simulation tables. The Ernest Micek Family Robotic Simulation Lab is used for patient simulation, patient scenarios and specialized skills training.
We offer a variety of training and certification courses for medical professionals including:

High school educational opportunities
Scenic Rivers Area Health Education Center (SRAHEC), the Health Science Academy (HSA) and students from other schools within our region spend time in the ICE House. While visiting, high school students can participate in various simulation exercises, such as laparoscopic skills exercises, airway/intubation procedures and learn more about human patient simulators through hands-on exercises.
High school job shadows
For high school students who are not a member of a Gundersen-approved healthcare group such as the Health Science Academy, Scenic Rivers Area Health Education Center or Northeast Iowa Career Learning Link, we are happy to offer one job shadow per student in grades 10-12 (16 years or older).
