Seamstress Doris Monroe
When Doris Monroe and her friends get together, every stitch they set is placed with a purpose: To bring joy to kids and their families at Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics.
The Fennimore resident and her band of smile-inducing sewers have been making and donating pillowcases for kids in Gundersen Boscobel's Medical/Surgical Unit.
"We've been sewing pillowcases as a group now for just under a month," Doris says. "If we can make someone feel good while they are in the hospital, then we've done our job."
"What Doris and her friends have done to provide a touch of home is thoughtful and impactful," says David Hartberg, chief executive officer, Gundersen Boscobel. "Anything that adds comfort makes a big difference in our patients' experience."
