Gundersen Viroqua Clinic is pleased to welcome Jackie Redmer, MD, MPH, to its staff of medical providers. She is a physician who believes in the integrative medicine approach to care.
Dr. Redmer provides the spectrum of family medicine, treating newborns to seniors. Complementing her practice is integrative medicine, in which she is also fellowship-trained.
"Integrative medicine is a holistic approach which emphasizes the patient and provider relationship," explains Dr. Redmer. "It is evidence-based and makes use of all therapeutic and lifestyle interventions, including alternative medicine therapies when appropriate. An integrative approach focuses on prevention and seeks to break out of the diagnosis-drug cycle of medical care."
While she is from Manitowoc, she has family in the Viroqua area and that is one reason she and husband, Thomas, brought their three young children here. "We moved to Viroqua to be closer to family and are excited by the unique educational and family focused activities offered by this rural area," she says.
Dr. Redmer enjoys the outdoor life as well. She likes camping, canoeing, backpacking, cross country skiing and more: "I am excited to get a boat back on the rivers of southwest Wisconsin," says Dr. Redmer, who trained at Gundersen during medical school.
"Having just moved to Viroqua, I am interested in meeting new people and learning more about the Driftless community we now call home," she says. "I am also looking forward to practicing medicine in different settings including inpatient, outpatient and nursing homes."
