Profile

Personal Interests

Christine Waller, MD, is an acute care surgeon with an extensive background in pre-hospital emergency services, a passion for education, and a strong interest in research. After completing a general surgical residency and a critical care fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Dr. Waller fell in love with La Crosse and Gundersen Health System on her first visit to the area. She says it was the people of the city and Department of Surgery that drew her to the area. Dr. Waller believes Gundersen Health System’s General Surgery Residency is one of the best in education due to the commitment of hospital administrators, nursing, physicians, education staff, and patients. The designated chief surgery resident service is unique and promotes resident independence with appropriate faculty supervision. The patients enjoy working with the residents and participating in their education.
