Gundersen St. Joseph's launches new diabetes support group

Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics has launched a new support group for individuals dealing with diabetes and those who help them with their care.

The support group will meet at 10:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month in the Eagleview room of Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital in Hillsboro. Each session will last an hour and will cover specific topics related to diabetes.

Topics to be covered include:

  • September: Ways to Be Active
  • October: Reducing Risk Factors
  • November: Healthy Eating for the Holidays
  • January: Getting the most out of Monitoring
  • February: Grocery Shopping Tips

The sessions will be hosted by Leigh Rueckheim, RN, CDE, a certified diabetes educator at Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics who regularly meets one-on-one with patients to help them manage their chronic disease. The program will also include guest speakers covering topics such as nutrition.
