Cancer Patient Coordinator

We understand that a cancer diagnosis is life altering. If you or a family member or friend has been diagnosed with cancer, our patient coordinator can help.

What is a cancer patient coordinator?

A patient coordinator helps patients through their cancer journey, providing assistance before, during and after a diagnosis. He or she may assist patients in locating resources to help find or pay for treatment, provide guidance on how to talk to children about cancer, or offer advice and products for managing side effects of treatment, among many other things.

What kind of training does a patient coordinator have?

A patient coordinator may have professional medical, legal, financial, or administrative experience, or have personal experiences with a cancer diagnosis and want to help others in similar situations.

How can a patient coordinator help me?

Patient coordinators can secure a variety of support services, including:

  • Help understanding a diagnosis
  • Assistance finding treatment and paying for it
  • Transportation to medical appointments through the "Road to Recovery" program
  • Lodging programs to ensure that patients who must travel to appointments are able to receive the best care
  • Guidance on managing side effects of treatment, including the programs “TLC: Hair loss and Mastectomy Products” and “Look Good Feel Better”
  • Support groups in-person and online
  • Advice on how to talk to children about cancer
  • Information for caregivers and patients' support networks
