Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

If you don't need inpatient care, but still experience significant mood or emotional changes, our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an option. You can learn coping skills through outpatient therapy, daily assessments, education and support. Average program participation is 7 to 10 days.

PHP is offered 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in Onalaska. To see if you meet the criteria for PHP, call (608) 775-7987.

Mental Health Day Treatment

If you're an adult diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness, the Mental Health Day Treatment Program is another option for treatment. The program can teach independent living skills and offer support in the recovery process with emphasis on developing healthy coping skills. Services are located on the Gundersen La Crosse Campus and include:

  • Case management
  • Group therapies
  • Individual support
  • Leisure assessment/counseling/education
  • Medication monitoring/administration
  • Occupational therapy assessment/services

Patients are referred to Mental Health Day Treatment by their psychiatrist when appropriate for their individualized treatment plan.
