Here for your healing

How our providers support you

We’re here to empower our patients to navigate mental health concerns, such as feelings of sadness, changes in mood, difficulty coping with major life events, and work towards a brighter future. We take time to understand what you’re experiencing, your goals and what matters to you most.

If needed, your primary care provider can help with a referral, or you can call us directly to schedule outpatient services. For therapy services and addiction medicine, you can self-refer by calling Behavioral Health to request an appointment. New patient appointments depend on availability. To be seen for psychiatry or psychological testing services, you need a referral from your primary care provider.

Outpatient behavioral health FAQs

Here, you'll find answers to common questions about our outpatient mental health services.

Are outpatient mental health services right for me?

Outpatient mental health services are designed for individuals who need structured care but do not require 24-hour supervision and care.

This includes addressing conditions such as anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through therapy, medication management and support.

If you have questions about which outpatient care option might be right for you, talk to your primary care provider about services that are a good fit for your healthcare needs.

Outpatient care is ideal if you want to:

  • Receive outpatient therapy and counseling while continuing daily activities.
  • Learn coping skills, build healthy routines and manage symptoms in a supportive environment.
  • Participate in individual, group or family therapy sessions.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

A referral from your primary care provider is required for outpatient psychiatric or psychological testing services. All other outpatient behavioral health services are available through self-referral.

How can I schedule an appointment for outpatient therapy?

If you are interested in therapy or addiction services, you have the option to self-refer by calling our Behavioral Health department at (608) 775-2287. If you would like to be seen for psychiatry or psychological testing, please request a referral. This involves reaching out to your primary care provider who can assess your needs and make a referral to a psychiatrist.

Will my insurance cover outpatient care?

Most insurance plans cover services for outpatient care. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to clarify whether the outpatient service is covered and help determine your specific out-of-pocket expenses. The cost can vary based on your insurance coverage and the type of care you receive.

Are virtual care options available?

Yes, in some instances virtual care options are available in MyChart. If you are interested in a video visit, please inquire when scheduling. This proactive approach ensures we'll have a clear understanding of what options are available to you and can help facilitate a smoother experience during your visit, if applicable.
