Limbo receives AWHONN award
Rana Limbo, PhD, RN, CPLC, FAAN, will soon add to her long list of accolades when she receives the Award of Excellence in Leadership from the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) later this year.
"Your accomplishments in the specialties of women's health, obstetric and neonatal nursing, as well as your contributions to our association, are indeed exemplary," writes association president Emily Drake. "They were recognized by the awards selection committee which considered many impressive candidates. I agree with the committee that you personify the qualities of AWHONN's notable professionals and that you deserve this honor."
Rana, who is Gundersen Health System Resolve Through Sharing (RTS) associate director, will be officially presented with the honor at a June 25 event in New Orleans. She is widely considered a guiding light in perinatal bereavement research and clinical care.
"As a decades long member of AWHONN, I am especially touched by this Leadership Award," says Rana "My colleague, Dr. Sara Wheeler, and I brought Resolve Through Sharing to an enthusiastic national audience at AWHONN's (then known as NAACOG) annual conference in Washington, DC, in the spring of 1983. The response to our talk there began a journey in the recognition of this Gundersen program as an internationally renowned model for healthcare professional education and practice."
