CMN at Gundersen funds new neonatal transport isolette

Gundersen Health System’s ground transport service team is dedicated to providing high-quality, expedient care for all patients, including neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients who require specialized equipment for safe transport.

Each year, the team transports about 50 infants to or from Gundersen, and access to dependable medical equipment is crucial. That is why Children's Miracle Network® (CMN), with the support of Gundersen Medical Foundation, recently funded the purchase of a new specialized neonatal ground transport isolette when the previous model became unreliable.

Not only does the new isolette provide a double outer wall system for keeping infants warm in the winter and cool in the summer, but it also allows for the monitoring of an infant’s clinical measurements. Members of the transport team can track oxygen saturation, blood pressure, vital signs and heart rhythm during transport with a touchscreen monitor. The new model is also more user-friendly and easier for medical staff to move and operate.

“Our goal is to provide the best care possible to our tiniest patients, and in order to do that, we need to have reliable, user-friendly equipment,” said Kelley Zhovtis, NNP. “We are incredibly grateful to CMN and their donors for this grant, which has positively impacted our patients and our staff.”
