Gundersen Moundview welcomes additional surgeon

When you need to have surgery, it's reassuring when you can receive your care close to home.

Matthew Baker, MD, FACS

To give more patients the opportunity to have their surgery close to home, Gundersen Moundview Hospital and Clinics has added general surgeon Matthew Baker, MD, FACS, to their surgery staff. Dr. Baker joins a surgery staff at Gundersen Moundview that already includes Gundersen surgeon Timothy Minus, DO; and Gundersen surgery physician assistant Bradley Maurhoff, PA-C.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to work in a more rural setting and offer surgical care to patients closer to home," Dr. Baker says.

Dr. Baker will care for patients for conditions such as:

  • Hernias
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Various skin lumps and bumps
  • Screening colonoscopy
  • Reflex disease

Dr. Baker has been a surgeon at Gundersen in La Crosse since 2005. He received his medical degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He performed his internship and residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash., and completed his surgery fellowship at Gundersen Medical Foundation in La Crosse before joining Gundersen's surgical team.
