General Surgery Residency Application

We are looking for surgeons to grow their general surgery skills and expand their practice. If that is you, apply through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) by Dec. 1, 2023. 

When you apply through ERAS, include: 

• A personal statement  
• Your medical school transcript  
• Dean's letter (or equivalent)  
• Results of standardized tests: USMLE, COMLEX, NBME, FLEX, FMGEMS or equivalent; all in-service exams; ECFMG certificate (IMG applicants)  
• 3 recommendation letters from physicians, preferably from surgeons you’ve worked alongside. If you graduated from an international medical school, the letters should address your clinical experience in the U.S.  

We will extend a virtual interview offer to our top candidates on Oct. 16, 2023. Candidates can expect their interview on a Wednesday between October and January. The first interview date is Oct. 25. Candidates will join a social hour with our residents the evening before the interview. 

You are eligible to apply for our residency if you: 

• Speak and write English  
• Completed visa paperwork and fees, if applicable  
• Graduated from medical school within the last 2 years  
• Passed USMLE Step 1 and 2 (or equivalent) on the first attempt 
• Have a minimum of 1 year of U.S. direct patient care experience. For U.S. medical students, your clinical rotations during medical school will meet this requirement.
