EMPA program director

Brian Vike, PA-C

Portrait of physician assistant Brian Vike.

Brian has practiced in emergency medicine for his entire physician assistant (PA) career. His first position was with a Minneapolis metro area physician group where he completed their training program and subsequently worked in various emergency departments in Minnesota. After 5 years with this group, Brian joined Gundersen as an EMPA at the critical access hospital in Whitehall, Wis. Education has been a passion for Brian even prior to becoming a PA, and he has been involved with the EMPA Fellowship since the inaugural class. Brian holds a CAQ in emergency medicine and has since moved his practice to the Gundersen Emergency Department in La Crosse.

Gundersen as an institution holds education at the heart of its mission, and there is a vibrant tradition of learning throughout the health system’s history. The EMPA fellowship is the sole emergency medicine-focused post graduate program here, and our fellows have the great fortune of benefiting from the tools and resources of Gundersen’s long-established educational culture. The diverse training opportunities within our program have allowed our graduates to succeed in any emergency department setting.
