New services save miles for patients at Gundersen Sparta Clinic

Residents in and around Sparta are receiving more healthcare services close to home with the opening of the new Gundersen Sparta Clinic.

"With more than 27,000 feet of added space than our previous location, we've expanded the care we offer to include cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation; physical therapy; digital mammography; expertise from specialists in cardiology, ophthalmology, midwifery, OB/Gynecology, and general and orthopaedic surgery; an expanded array of laboratory tests; and more," says Jessica Stefanski-Williams, DO, Family Medicine physician at the Clinic.

"Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services are major benefits for our patients," Dr. Stefanski-Williams explains. "Offering them is vitally important because some patients were foregoing treatment rather than traveling to La Crosse to receive it."

Cardiac rehabilitation was available immediately when the new clinic opened; pulmonary rehabilitation is a more recent addition. Both are now offered all day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Also new at Gundersen Sparta Clinic:

  • Eye injections to treat macular degeneration and other serious eye conditions.
  • Expanded laboratory capabilities, including on-site test processing that dramatically reduces wait time for test results.
  • Education programs and weekly meetings in the new Community Room for health topics impacting high numbers of people
  • Physical therapy

Dr. Stefanski-Williams adds, "Our new clinic is also the only location in Sparta for treatment for the inner ear disease vertigo."

Gundersen Sparta Clinic opened in January at 1111 West Wisconsin Street (State Highway 16) and houses medical, eye and behavioral health services.

"Bringing care close to home is a top priority for us at Gundersen Health System," states Dave Campbell, clinic manager. "Our new site is terrific for patients because it reduces out-of-town trips they need to make to receive care. We're thrilled to be enhancing the high quality care we've been providing in Sparta for so many years."
