3 things you should do for your skin at any age
Allison Derrick, MD, Gundersen Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics
Gundersen plastic surgeon Allison Derrick, MD tells her patients, "I have many ways to address signs of aging, but the best thing you can do, particularly when you are young, is to take great care of your skin. Start early with a consistent regimen and the effort will pay off in the long run. It’s true that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!"
Heed her advice, no matter your age, to help keep your skin looking ageless:
- Use sunscreen daily – Sun exposure causes wrinkles, dry skin and dark spots that can age your skin. Protect your skin with daily sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher.
- Exfoliate – To reveal smoother, fresher skin, exfoliate two to three times a week to remove dead skin and the buildup of pore-clogging oil, dirt and makeup.
- Clean out – Toss old (more than a year, three months for mascara) or ineffective makeup and skincare products.
Whether you have a youthful complexion or your skin is already showing signs of aging, Gundersen Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics has you covered. Dr. Derrick adds, "An individualized skin care assessment helps you get the most from your daily skincare routine. We also offer professional quality skincare products, Botox and injectables fillers, peels, laser treatments and more to regain or maintain a more youthful appearance."
