Easy alfredo sauce

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 3 cups 1% milk
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • ½ Tbsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. black pepper, ground
  • ½ tsp. red pepper flakes, to taste

Preparation

Heat olive oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Add butter & melt. Add flour one tablespoon at a time, whisking. Allow flour mixture to cook for about one minute. Add in milk one cup at a time and whisk to combine; cook for about one minute until mixture is thick before adding in the next cup. Once all milk has been added, add the rest of the spices. Simmer until desired thickness. If sauce is too thick, add a bit more milk. If it is too thin, add a bit more flour.
