New at Steppin' Out in Pink in 2018
Have you registered for the 13th annual Steppin' Out in Pink? There's still plenty of time! The event kicks off Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8:45 a.m. on the La Crosse Campus Walking Trail.
Steppin' Out in Pink offers a little something for everyone: music, kids' activities, shopping and entertainment galore. New this year will be:
Kwik Trip to the Finish: In 2017, we added a 2.5-mile walking route. Back by popular demand, you can choose between the traditional 4.5-mile route or turn for a shorter 2.5-mile route called "Kwik Trip to the Finish."
Badger Crossing: Pull out your dancing shoes at "Badger Crossing" (the corner of West Avenue and South Avenue. This year, there will be new entertainment by Vibronauts from Minneapolis and the always-entertaining La Crescent Apple Annies.
Pink Boot Brigade: Get your loose change handy. On the walking route this year will be volunteers with pink boots collecting change, checks and, yes, paper money.
Believe T-shirts: We've tallied the votes on our Facebook page and are excited for our winning T-shirt design: "Believe." Since day one, we have believed and we'll continue to believe until a cure is found.
Expanded entertainment: There will be more entertainment along the walking route than ever before. New in 2018 are: Apple Annies, Uke Band – Second Landing, Old Towne Strings, Vibronauts, Pig Town Fling String Band, Slash Rapper Sword Dance and the La Crosse Irish Music Session Players. Visit steppinoutinpink.org for the full lineup.
Three shuttle bus locations: Lamers' buses will provide rides to the start of the walk for participants, with two shuttles on campus across the street from the East Building. Off-campus shuttles will be located at the AVS Group Building, 3120 South Avenue, and new this year, at Dave's Guitar Shop, 227 South 3rd St. The buses will run continuously from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will drop off walkers right behind the registration tent.
Fundraising incentives: A new year means new fundraising incentives. Collect $100 in pledges and you'll be rewarded with a Steppin' Out in Pink PopSocket and power bank tech kit/portable charger. Raise $150 and you'll receive a Steppin' Out in Pink cooler bag/lunch combo set and the tech kit.
Spas for a Cause: HotSpring Spas & Pools along with the La Crosse Media Group, are giving Steppin' Out in Pink supporters the opportunity to win a pink hot tub. Don't miss the finale party on July 28 from noon to 2 p.m. at HotSpring in Onalaska. In addition, HotSpring will be donating $500 to Steppin' Out in Pink for every hot tub sold in August.
The Steppin' Out in Pink website—steppinoutinpink.org—has all the important details for the day of the walk. Register before Sept. 4 and the event fee is just $20. The price increases to $25 Sept. 4-8.
