Surgery services expand in La Crosse

Gundersen Health System is pleased to announce the expansion of its general surgery and breast cancer surgery services with the addition of Lee J. Trombetta, MD.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Trombetta will perform general surgery procedures along with breast surgery for patients with breast cancer. In addition to breast surgical oncology, Dr. Trombetta specializes in melanoma and hernia surgery.
Dr. Trombetta will also provide training to residents in Gundersen’s General Surgery Residency, a five-year program leading to board eligibility with rotations in general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, emergency medicine, urological surgery, anesthesia, plastic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, endoscopy, critical care and obstetrics/gynecology.
"I look forward to teaching surgical residents and for the opportunity to be involved in surgical research," he says.
Prior to joining Gundersen, Dr. Trombetta served as a U.S. Army general surgeon, both stateside and in the Middle East. He completed a surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., and earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb.
He is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgeons.
