Pediatric orthopedic surgery services expand in La Crosse
Amanda Larson, MD
Gundersen Health System is pleased to announce the expansion of its pediatric orthopedic surgery services with the addition of Amanda C.R. Larson, MD.
Dr. Larson is an advanced trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in orthopedic care for children, but also provides general orthopedic trauma care for patients of all ages. Her services include evaluation and treatment of trauma and limb deformities of the upper and lower extremities and non-operative spine care including Mehta casting and bracing for progressive infantile scoliosis.
"Fracture care is a large part of my practice and in children this doesn't always mean a large surgery with metal implants. Often, this is just closed versus open reductions with percutaneous pinning and casting through very small or no incisions," she explains.
Dr. Larson joins Virginia G. Wintersteen, MD, and Caroline Peterson, PA-C, in the department of Pediatric orthopedics in La Crosse where the team offers the full spectrum of orthopedic care.
"I will build on Gundersen's Pediatric orthopedic department to include the newest evidence-based treatment strategies for the best care of children in our region. I look forward to providing focused care for children in a kid-welcoming environment, and collaborating with you, your patients and other departments to make that happen," says Dr. Larson.
Prior to joining Gundersen, Dr. Larson completed an orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Residency at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, and most recently, a fellowship in the Division of Pediatric orthopedic Surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Ohio.
