Benjamin Jarman, MD, is a general surgeon who joined Gundersen Health System in 2007. He became the program director of the General Surgery Residency in 2010 and is honored to lead an outstanding group of residents within the context of a supportive institution and department of surgery. His interests are many and include global health, rural surgery, broad spectrum general surgery and resident education. Some of his accomplishments as program director include implementation of international electives, a chief resident surgery service, a boot camp for PGY I residents, and a quality and patient safety curriculum, as well as adapting the residency program to accommodate transitions in surgical ICU care and training in robotic surgery. Dr. Jarman is currently president of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery. Dr. Jarman and his wife, Annette, have three children and enjoy taking ski trips, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, doing gymnastics, playing lacrosse, fishing and much more.
