COVID-19 vaccine arrival, availability in Gundersen's service area

We know you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine availability and are anxious for its arrival. We are also.

Gundersen Health System has been preparing for weeks for its arrival and distribution and that hard work continues today. Like all other healthcare systems, we remain at the mercy of production and distribution of the vaccine - the most important, complex public health effort in our nation's history.

When will Gundersen receive its first vaccine delivery?

Soon, but we don't know exactly. Gundersen expects to receive periodic shipments of the vaccine during the next several months as part of Wisconsin's allocation plan.

Who will be the first to receive the vaccination? Who's next?

Gundersen medical staff who work with COVID-19 patients and in other critical areas, along with local long-term residents who face life-threatening consequences if infected, will receive the COVID-19 vaccination first. Experts are working hard at the state level to plan for the next round of recipients when the supply becomes available.

I'm a relatively healthy adult with no known health concerns that would place me in a high-risk category for COVID-19. When will I be eligible for vaccination?

It could be summer before the supply is available, or it could be sooner. You can prepare for distribution by downloading the MyChart app or visiting MyChart so that you're ready to schedule the vaccination when it's available.

How will I hear when it's my turn to receive the vaccination?

Return to, follow Gundersen on social media and monitor local media outlets.
