This position is for a Research Technician to provide general laboratory support and assistance to aid the Principal Investigator in conducting ovarian cancer research. The Research Technician in this position will conduct molecular biology experiments that investigates pathways involved in cancer in vivo and in vitro. Responsibilities include maintaining the laboratory, ordering supplies, tissue culture, cell and molecular biology based experiments, animal work, and overseeing safety.

Job Description:

The Research Technician assists the Hem/Onc Research Lab Director by providing efficient workflow process in the lab. Performs diagnostic clinical assays and complete independent research projects. Responsible for the collection, processing, storage and dissemination of blood and tissue samples related to the Oncology Research Projects.


Major Responsibilities:

1. Perform assigned research experiments.

2. Responsible for laboratory maintenance duties.

3. Organize and tabulate experimental data in laboratory notebooks and enters the information in the computer.

4. Perform diagnostic clinical assays.

5. Complete independent research projects leading to first-author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

6. Maintain and care for laboratory animals.

7. Responsible for the collection, processing, storage and dissemination of blood and tissue samples related to the GL Bio-Bank.

8. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Biology

DESIRED

Master's degree in Biology

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

0 - 2 years previous experience in a laboratory setting

DESIRED

2-3 years in a similar position
