Job Description:

The Medical Research Program Coordinator is responsible for the business functions of the Medical Research service line. This professional will partner with a manager of medical research in this effort. In this position, you will provide financial performance oversight and analysis of all areas within Medical Research. This professional will provide project management, develop financial forecasts for new programs or services and support new service evaluations with market research. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for identification of opportunities for operational efficiencies and development of the program budgets. This professional will continuously improve and monitor a program dashboard that is shared regularly with medical leadership and staff. In addition, this position is responsible for initiating and overseeing department program quality improvement projects including patient satisfaction

Major Responsibilities:

1. Develops systems for financial analysis, variance reporting, dashboards/benchmarking, budgeting (cost centers, programs, new initiatives, outreach, charges/coding/RVUs) to enhance efficiency and planning.

2. Completes business case analysis and return on investment for the Medical Research technology projects and programs as well as for additional staff due to process changes and/or growth.

3. Operationalizes the Medical Research Project Management, Gundersen Lutheran Corporate business initiatives as they relate to Medical Research business initiatives.

4. Completes business analysis functions to ensure appropriate utilization of resources, assures adequate staffing and coordinates coverage with other inpatient units. Coordinates issues related to FTE budget, position control, payroll and timekeeping, assures staff compliance with training, education and licensure data.

5. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (CARF, JCAHO), GL policies and procedures, confidentiality standards practice guidelines, standards of care.

6. Supports and implements Gundersen Lutheran organizational and departmental mission and strategic plan.

7. Fosters positive working relationships and promotes collaborative practice within the team and with other departments.

8. Financially evaluates and conducts market research regarding the development of new programs and services.

9. Pursues relevant educational opportunities to maintain or enhance professional knowledge and meet team/department needs.

10. Provides other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in a related field

DESIRED

Master's degree in a related field

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

3-4 years of research program coordination experience.

DESIRED

3-4 years of research program management experience.

License and Certifications:

REQUIRED

Valid Driver's License (DL)

DESIRED

Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Clinical Research Professional certification (CCRP) issued by the Society of Clinical Research Associates. or Clinical Research Coordinator certification (CCRC) issued by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or PgMP issues by the Project Managment Institute
