The child life internship is professional preparation for child life certification and entry level child life specialist position.  The intern will gain experience working with children 0-18, their caregiver(s), and the medical team to assist in coping with stressful healthcare experiences.  Primary areas of coverage will be in the pediatric inpatient unit and outpatients clinics, with intermittent experience in surgery and emergency services. The internship will run the Sept. 5- December 22, 2023.

This is an unpaid, non-benefited 600+ hour internship.  Applicants can be with or without University affiliation.

Job Description:

Gundersen Health System provides a professional hands-on experience tailored to meet the interests of the interns in conjunction with the current activities of the department. Internships are available to students who have graduated from or are currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelors or master's degree program.

Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Post High School education in a specialized field:
Currently in or graduated from an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's Program in a related field.

Work Experience:
DESIRED
1 year in a related field.

Category I - All Employees in this job title have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.
