Gundersen Boscobel celebrated National Healthcare Week May 7-11
An annual national celebration known as "Hospital Week" was amended to "Healthcare Week" and included all aspects of Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics (GBAHC) services. "We were excited to have several activities planned both internally and externally to celebrate this awesome week of healthcare," said Natalie Tollefson, Director of Community Relations.
Healthcare Week Headliner Events included:
BAHC Foundation Basket Raffle Fundraiser - Staff and local businesses graciously donated amazing items to be placed on the Foundation's 2018 Basket Auction Fundraiser Event. Similar to a silent auction, individuals "bid" on items of their choice by purchasing tickets vs. written bid. Participants were free to purchase and place as many tickets as they wished into any one ticket drop box or spread them out among several auction items. This fun raffle was open to the public, as well as internal staff.
Annual Healthy Hustle 5K Run/Walk - Back by popular demand, the Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics Foundation and the Boscobel Pharmacy once again came together to bring you and your family another fun-filled, no-frills, no-cost Healthy Hustle!! This event offered same day registration with a stroller-friendly course that began at the GBAHC Bluff Street Terrace and took participants down the Sanders Creek path and back. "We like to say it's 'no frills'," says Natalie Tollefson, GBAHC's new Director of Community Relations. "We didn't time, but there were prize drawings and swag bags for all participants. We also had our Med/Surg Team running concessions for any post-race hunger pains! It's was a great event for all ages."
SWTC Alumni Breakfast - The SWTC Alumni Breakfast was a new event planned in partnership with Southwest Tech. This event was held on Thursday, May 10 from 7 to 9 a.m. in the Gundersen Boscobel Hospital Cafeteria. "A large percentage of our employees, particularly those in the health fields, are graduates of SWTC. The college was anxious to honor those individuals on our site," shared Jenny Dax, Director of Human Resources. Southwest Tech Foundation provided breakfast and shared what's new with the health fields. There was also a presentation by SWTC President Jason Wood, Chief Academic Officer, Katie Garrity, and SWTC Foundation staff.
Internal events throughout the week included dress-up days for staff each day, special snacks provided each day and several events planned by the nurses, including the introduction of the Daisy Award. There was also a special exercise class. The week will concluded with an Employee Picnic on Friday, May 11 on the Bluff Street Terrace, where the nurses assisted.
Healthcare Week 2018 at Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics always promises to be a fun-filled week for everyone.
