The La Crosse Coulee Region Safe Kids Chapter is a broad-based group of community members and agencies working toward the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries in La Crosse and surrounding communities. Prevention strategies include, but are not limited to, reducing:
- Motor vehicle injuries (including car sear safety, pedestrians and bicyclists)
- Drowning
- Fire and burns
- Suffocation
- Choking
- Falls
- Poisoning
The La Crosse Coulee Region Safe Kids is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing unintentional injury. Gundersen is the lead agency for La Crosse Coulee Region Safe Kids.

La Crosse Coulee Region Safe Kids Goals
- Enhance public education and awareness about childhood injury prevention by disseminating injury prevention materials and programs while increasing media awareness throughout La Crosse and surrounding areas.
- Develop and initiate strategies for program development based on injury data and research pertinent to the children living in La Crosse and the surrounding areas.
- Advocate for injury prevention legislation and regulations, and/or stronger enforcement of existing laws.
