Step up to building confidence and reducing falls in 2018

Many older adults have experienced a fall which has resulted in injury and shaken their confidence.

Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics provides a program to help individuals who have experienced or are at risk of falling. The next session of the seven-week program begins Friday, Mar. 2, 9 – 11 a.m. in the Eagleview room at Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital, Hillsboro. The program meets for two hours a week over a seven-week period. Topics include balance and strength training, vision, medications, footwear and home safety.

The threat of falling can become a barrier to many of life's activities and reduce an individual's participation. In fact, 35 percent of those who have experienced a fall become less active. Preventing falls and regaining confidence is vital to maintaining one's personal independence and self-worth.
