Prepare for fall and winter with "Stepping On"
Many older adults have experienced a fall which has resulted in injury and shaken their confidence.
Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics provides a program to help individuals who have experienced or are at risk of falling. The Stepping On program is a seven-week program, that helps prevent falls that can lead to injury, hospitalization and loss of independence. Participants learn how to prevent falls through strength and balance exercises, improved home and environment safety, safe footwear, and more. The seven-week program begins Friday, Sept. 21, 9 – 11 a.m. in the Eagle view room at Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital, Hillsboro.
The threat of falling can become a barrier to many of life's activities and reduce an individual's participation. In fact, 35 percent of those who have experienced a fall become less active. Preventing falls and regaining confidence is vital to maintaining one's personal independence and self-worth.
