Hillsboro Winter Family Fun Day scheduled for Feb. 17
Getting out and being active in the winter can be tough!
That's why the Healthy Neighbors Coalition has teamed up with Hillsboro School District to put on an indoor Winter Family Fun Day at the Hillsboro Elementary School. The event will feature lots of indoor games including Frisbee golf, basketball, soccer, pickleball, beanbag toss, dancing, exercise and yoga as well as a snack stand.
This free event is open to all ages and will take place Feb 17, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Elementary School gym. Participants can show up at any time to come and use the facilities and take part in the activities.
"The coalition meets monthly and works on ways to help improve the health of our community," says Dan Howard, marketing director at Gundersen St. Joseph's. "We know that cabin fever sets in pretty quickly during the winter months, travel becomes difficult, and it's not always possible to get out and blow off some steam. This is going to be a great opportunity for parents to come and shoot some hoops or play some games with their kids indoors."
The Healthy Neighbors Coalition is a group of local organizations that focus on promoting healthy habits, exercise and wellness. The coalition consists of members from the Vernon County Unit on Aging, Hillsboro School District, Wonewoc-Union Center School District, Hillsboro County Market, city of Hillsboro, Hillsboro Police Department, Hillsboro Lions Club, Wonewoc Lions Club, The Good Samaritan Thrift Store and Food Pantry and Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics.
