St. Joseph's Memorial Foundation to host holiday cookie and candy sale
St. Joseph's Memorial Foundation will host a holiday cookie and candy sale at the Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital board room on Friday, Dec. 15 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The holiday cookie and candy sale will feature a wide variety of homemade cookies and candies sold at $5 per dozen. All proceeds from the sale will go to the St. Joseph's Memorial Foundation which supports the programs of Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics – raising funds for equipment and education.
"The holiday period is a time when we all get cozy and things feel extra warm and fluffy, who doesn't love a good holiday cookie at this time of the year?" says Barb Potter, chair of the cookie and candy sale and vice chair of the foundation. "This event is less about fundraising and more about continuing a tradition, enjoying the season and making cookies and candies!"
Included in the variety of baked goods offered are Great British mince pies made by Dan Howard, marketing director of Gundersen St. Joseph's. "These are a tradition back home in England and we leave these out for Santa on Christmas Eve," says Howard. "It's essentially minced fruit, sultana, raisins, apples, figs and dates with seasonal spices like cinnamon, all encased in a buttery crust. They're amazing but we will see if rural America is ready for them!"
Cookies and candies go on sale at 8 a.m. and everyone is encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Customers will also need to bring their own containers.
