Well-Child Visits

Your child should receive routine well-child care from birth into adulthood.

We recommend well-child visits at the following ages:

  • 3 to 5 days
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • Followed by visits once per year into adulthood

Usually covered by insurance

Most insurance plans, including BadgerCare, cover 100 percent of exam charges. Contact your insurance provider for specifics.

Acceptable for school, sports, camp and college physicals

Well-child visits include a thorough physical exam as well as immunizations and screening, as needed. These visits are acceptable for school, sports, camp and college physicals.

Well visits are also a time to look at your child's development and to discuss age-appropriate concerns such as:

  • Sleeping and eating habits
  • Toilet training
  • Immunizations
  • Social and sexual issues
  • School progress

Our primary care providers are convenient and close to home

Please bring your questions and concerns along to your appointment. Your primary care provider (either a pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner or family medicine physician) will help answer your questions so you can make informed choices.

Our Pediatrics team offers convenient evening and weekend hours to fit your busy schedule. Well-child visits can be scheduled year round, but summer appointments fill up quickly, so be sure to schedule early if your child needs an exam during the summer months.
