Cystic Fibrosis Clinic
If your child has cystic fibrosis, frequent trips to the doctor are a part of life for you and your family. Your child may be in for check-ups every three months and that's not to mention the trips you make if they get sick in between visits. Gundersen Health System offers that complete care closer to home with a Cystic Fibrosis Clinic.
Patients with CF get comprehensive care for their disease at the Gundersen Cystic Fibrosis Clinic. Because it is a multidisciplinary clinic, patients can be seen in many different areas of treatment and see several doctors and therapists, all in one visit. For example, a patient can have respiratory therapy, receive dietary information, get medicine from the pharmacy, talk with a specialist from Social Services and even benefit from genetic counseling in a single trip.
To provide this care, Gundersen partnered with the UW-Madison CF Center as a certified affiliate.
Currently, there is no cure for CF, but there are many promising new treatments in use and even more expected in the future. Life expectancy for a person with CF is now into the mid-thirties, a dramatic improvement over a short period of time.
