Since widespread use of vaccines began, several infectious diseases have been eliminated, and millions of lives have been saved. That’s why we offer vaccinations for all ages at dozens of Gundersen clinic and pharmacy locations. Contact your primary care provider to learn more or visit the Gundersen Vaccine Clinic where walk-ins are welcome.

Flu vaccination

The flu vaccine is the best prevention against influenza. The flu shot is available at any Gundersen pharmacy or clinic Oct. 9. We recommend everyone 6 months and older get the vaccine, but it is especially important to protect yourself with the vaccine if you’re:

  • A child
  • Pregnant
  • Age 50 or older
  • Work in healthcare
  • Live in a nursing home
  • Have chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease

Flu vaccine available Oct. 9 by appointment

Flu shot availability and options

Beginning Oct. 9: 

  • Flu shots are available to patients 6 months and older
  • High dosage flu shots are available to patients 65 years of age and older
  • FluMist (nasal spray) are available to healthy patients 2 through 49 years of age upon request at the Fall Vaccine Clinics 
  • Flublok are available to patients 18 years of age and older

Vaccine clinic in Onalaska

Open year-round  

  • Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4 pm (Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 9 – Nov. 29 open until 6 pm) 
  • Clinic location: 4th floor, Onalaska 
  • By appointment only. To schedule, please call (608) 775-6829.  
  • Vaccines offered: All routine vaccines, including flu, tetanus, pneumonia, COVID-19 and adult RSV

Appointments

Starting Oct 9, 2023, we are requesting appointments for influenza vaccinations. This allows us to reduce wait times, ease pressure on care staff, and create a more streamlined experience for you. If you have an existing appointment for care at Gundersen, you can receive your vaccination during that visit.

Vaccination anxiety & hesitancy

We have a number of techniques we use to help make getting your vaccinations easier for you. For more ideas on what you can do, read this handout about addressing vaccination anxiety. Let us know if you're feeling anxious, we want to help.

Are there some vaccines only available at certain locations?

Yes. The Mpox vaccine is only available at our Vaccine Clinic in Onalaska, and vaccines needed prior to international travel are available only at the Travel Clinic.

How are my vaccinations recorded?

Immunizations are entered into state registries in tri-state area.

Do I need to have established care as a Gundersen patient?

No! You do not need to be an established Gundersen patient – new patients are welcome to schedule appointments at primary care clinics and walk-ins are welcome at the Vaccine Clinic.

Is a referral from another doctor required?

No, a referral from another doctor or your primary care provider is not necessary.
